Organizing a Tiny Room for Baby
My family and I recently (in November) moved to a rental home to save on my husband's commute to work. My 7 month old's bedroom is very small but we figured that he didn't need a large room, just something that could hold the basics: crib, changing table, rocking chair. Well it turned out that there was a lot more than just those basics in his old room and we couldn't just put them in our 2 year old's room because toddlers love to get in to and climb everything. With out being able to make any major changes here is how I was able to fit all of the essentials and still keep the room organized.
The four corners of the room.
(You can see just how tiny this room is.)
I had this great wardrobe that I was able to fill with my boy's diapers, wipes, diaper pail refills and cloth diaper inserts while still using it for some decor and the humidifier.
(we use depends inserts and poise pads for our cloth diapers)
And I filled the drawers with shoes and clothes he is just coming up on fitting.
(size 12 month already)
I found this adorable drawer set at Hobby Lobby over 2 years ago...
and I filled it with socks, miscellaneous items that are handy to have crib-side...
(oragel, gas drops, pacifiers, bulb syringe)
cloth diapers/inserts and burp cloths.
I have a hamper and 2 diaper pails in this corner.
(Since
I have two little boys in diapers it is very convenient to have 2
pails. I had the Diaper Genie II Elite from my first baby and it was
super easy to use but didn't contain the odor. We use that one for the
wet diapers. After reading great reviews on odor control we got the
Munchkin Arm & Hammer diaper pail so we use that one for poopies.)
The changing table/dresser combo of course is full of clothes (and crib sheets) but I utilize the top drawer for all of my immediate diaper changing needs.
(I got this great weighted wipes container at Buy Buy Baby.)
And of course there's the closet. I didn't do much special here. Just put a short book shelf inside and used a hanging basket on one of the top shelves.
(There's actually more I am hoping to do here, I will update this post once I have it just the way I want it.)
